NASA Moon Tree Seedlings

NASA’s Next Gen STEM project, in collaboration with the USDA Forest Service, is offering an exciting opportunity for K-12 organizations located in the contiguous United States. They can apply to own their very own Moon Tree seedling. This unique opportunity is part of an initiative where nearly 2,000 tree seeds were sent to the moon and back to Earth aboard the Artemis I, Orion space capsule.

Education and community organizations are invited to submit a proposal for an Artemis Moon Tree Seedling through NASA’s Artifacts Module Program. The Moon Trees team and USDA Forest Service will review your application to determine the viability of successfully hosting a seedling. However, it’s important to note that you will not be able to select the species of tree seedling. The Forest Service will decide based on your geographical region.

To begin the process of applying for a seedling, you must create a NASA Guest Account if you have a non-NASA Identity. Potential recipients will need to register through NASA Gateway and NASA CONNECTS. This is a fantastic opportunity for educators to bring a piece of space exploration directly into their classrooms and communities.
